It has been a whole week that the temperatures in Belgium are finally bringing us the summer feelings and yesterday it was even warmer than at the Canary Islands. And while some of us will go on sun or beach holidays soon, others are trying to enjoy as much summer vibes as possible. So why not giving our home a little update as well instead of only enjoying terraces? 

We're all drooling away by those hotel rooms with bright colors and tropical touches. They give you the instant holiday feeling and once you're outside in the resort you're surrounded by palm trees, botanic gardens, cozy places to relax at and a cocktail can't miss at all. Stop dreaming and forget the planes! By using these ideas you can create your own little resort close by.

No big changes needed and it can fit any kind of interior. The simplest way is to add some summer plants into the rooms and to use outstanding vases. Especially think about palm leaves (eventually fake ones) or adding a bowl citrus fruit. But you can also work with beddings, cushions on the couch/chairs with botanical, bird, fruit or lattice prints. Even I have to admit that I have bamboo stems in my bathroom to create that relaxing holiday feeling while taking a bath with candle light.

The basic colors to work with are white and sea blue. Than you can add a bright color like yellow, pink or orange to really make it pop out and to express that typical resort and tropical feeling. Use gold or copper as detail color of accessories or furniture, as they match the warm and bold colors better than silver, and also work with materials like wood, linen, bamboo, silk and even velvet to complete the total style.

For the daredevils that want to give a complete summer feeling: go with a tropical printed wallpaper on one of your walls. Just as adding plants, frames and cushions in any possible room, the wallpaper can as well. Remember what I said about my bathroom?
